In ancient Egypt, the stems of this plant (considered by some authorities to be the bulrush of the Bible) were used to make a paper-like writing material also called papyrus. United States gardeners in all regions can grow Prince Tut as a long season annual, giving a show from spring until fall with its frilly heads and interesting.
